Why Hiring a Life Coach Might Be the Best Decision You Make

I asked myself that question many times…What is the vision for your life? What is your purpose, your essence, your plan? Years went by.

We enter this life with surprisingly few tools and frameworks to navigate it. Most of us weren’t sat down by elders or sages to receive wisdom on how to not just manage life, but truly live it well—learning how to thrive, grow, and engage in things that genuinely inspire us.

Traditionally, religious communities played this role, offering guidance. But as Western society has become secular, spiritual experiences have become constrained—whether through an experience of distant, formal religion or a complete lack of spiritual connection. As a result, many of us reach our 30s or 40+ feeling unsettled, with a growing desire to find clarity, purpose, and a spiritual connection.

While our parents and caregivers mean well, they often pass down the same limited beliefs and stories they inherited. At the core of much of this advice lies existential fear—an underlying belief system shaped by their own experiences. We’re then released into the world to figure it all out on our own, often without real tools, guidelines, or spiritual paradigms.

I was one of these people. I found myself washed up in London, trying to figure it all out. In my 30s I hit a wall. I felt rudderless.

Eventually, I admitted to myself that I needed help—that my friends couldn’t give me the answers I was searching for. And so, I made that call. The first session was powerful. I still remember the empathy, curiosity, and genuine interest my coach showed. More importantly, I was listened to without judgment or bias.

However, this wasn’t a one-session miracle transformation, it was a journey. It took time, more sessions, and a real commitment to change. But it paid off: I reconnected with my family, transitioned into a successful career, found a partner, got married..all beyond my wildest imagination. I had started from a messy beginning. I thought all this was for other people, but not me. Over time, I got to understand myself better—what I needed, what made me content, and what inspired me.

An Unbiased Perspective

One of the most powerful aspects of working with a coach is that they aren’t emotionally attached to your situation. They offer a fresh, unbiased perspective that can help you see things in a new light—especially when sharing your plans or visions. Friends and family often have their own opinions, particularly when it comes to options or dreams they may not understand:

“Honey, you can’t leave your job as a lawyer to become a teacher. Have you gone insane?”
“You should stay with Paul. He’s successful, handsome, and a ‘catch. ’ Don’t leave him!”
“You want to start your own business? Don’t be silly. Don’t take that risk.”

A coach provides honest, objective feedback that helps you uncover realistic and tangible solutions you might not have considered. Together, you challenge the beliefs and narratives that have been holding you back.

Some objectives for you to consider:

Personalised Guidance for Your Unique Journey

Unlike generic self-help books or well-meaning advice from friends, a life coach tailors their support specifically to you. They take the time to understand your unique challenges and work with you on a deeper level. This personalised approach means that the guidance and tools you receive will have a powerful impact.

Breaking Through Mental Blocks

We all face obstacles, but sometimes it’s tough to get past them on our own. Whether it’s procrastination, fear of failure, or perfectionism, these mental blocks can hold us back. A coach helps you recognise these challenges, shift your mindset, and find new ways of addressing challenges. You’ll be amazed at how differently things can look once you view them from a new perspective. It’s that Awww experience.

Managing Transitions and Change

Life is full of transitions, and some of them can feel overwhelming—changing careers, a redundancy, moving to a new city, starting a family, or dealing with loss. But a coach helps you navigate those changes. They’ll help you see transitions not as roadblocks but as opportunities for growth. Together, you’ll work through uncertainty, explore new options and stay grounded so you can keep moving forward with your life.

In the end, working with a life coach is about more than just solving problems—it’s about finding a deeper connection with yourself and creating a path that aligns with your true potential. When you’re ready to step into your next chapter, having someone by your side to guide, challenge, and support you can make all the difference.
